LCC Meeting

LCC held its 111th and 112th meeting on January 25, 2012 and February 21, 2012 respectively at SEAMEO INNOTECH, Quezon City. Brief information on the following agenda was tackled during the meetings:

• FLEMMS Analysis

• Revised LCC Blueprint For Action Focus Group Discussion on the Priority Barangays of Region X

• 2012 National Literacy Awards Revised Criteria and Guidelines for Selection

Radio Program

The Radio Program as a project of LCC aims to boost advocacy of its programs and projects especially to listeners in barangays considered vulnerable areas in terms of literacy rates. The radio program was conducted in Basilan and Region X held every Sunday, via Radio Mindanao Network. It had its maiden episode in December 2011 and its second and succeeding episodes in January 2012 through March 2012.

Monitoring of the program were done in January 29, 2012 in Cagayan de Oro City where the host radio station is located, and January 19, 2012 in Basilan.

National Literacy Awards Regional orientation on the revised Criteria and Guidelines for Selection

The National Literacy Awards is one of the major activities of the Literacy Coordinating Council in its effort to recognize individuals, institutions, and local government units with outstanding literacy programs in their communities. It was launched in 1994 and since then became the highlight of the conference which is held annually in conjunction with the celebration of Literacy Week. It aims to:

• contribute to the realization of the goal of universalizing literacy in the Philippines by creating public awareness of and interest in the programs and projects addressing this concern;

• sustain, expand and institutionalize literacy efforts by motivating and recognizing individuals, institutions and local government units through awards and appropriate recognition;
