The Literacy Coordinating Council (LCC) joins the whole country in celebrating the 2020 National Teachers’ Day/ World Teachers’ Day.
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10743, or “An Act Declaring the Fifth Day of October of Every Year as the National Teachers’ Day,” and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) International observance of World Teachers’ Day, the 5th of October of each year is celebrated to honor the integral role, incomparable commitment, unwavering service and remarkable contributions of all teachers in cultivating and honing the minds, values, and character of the Filipino youth, anchored to lifelong learning process, today and to the next generations to come.
In the Philippines, this event is made as a month-long celebration by observing the National Teachers’ Month which is held annually from September 5 to October 5. This year’s theme is “Gurong Filipino para sa Batang Filipino.” During the said event, all DepEd Regional Offices and Schools Division Offices are encouraged to conduct their respective activities which exhibit various ways of honoring teachers. All local government units, private partners, community stakeholders, and learners are also enjoined to participate in the said occasion.
The National Teachers’ Day virtual celebration is anticipated to happen in this year’s host region, DepEd Region I, in La Union on October 10, 2020.
Our salute goes to all our frontliners in education! Happy National Teachers’ Day, Ma’ams and Sirs!
